After a long time here we have some good
news for you! At last DESPISE’s new CD is out on 12th of May 2006!
Our CD demo features 4 songs (composed between 1994-1996) taken from our
unreleased full-length LP titled ‘Indefinite Force’ and also contains our 1st
demo’93 ‘State of Brutality’ (original analog recording). The CD is
self-financed and is distributed by the Greek independent label LIVE MUSIC
RECORDS. For more details about our release, see ‘Press release’.
At the moment our CD is available for €10 in Record stores
in Athens and very soon you’ll be able to order it via internet.
The CD is already sent to major Greek metal mags (‘Metal
Hammer’ and ‘Rock Hard’) for reviewing and we’ve given a few interviews to the
above mags and fanzines as well. At the moment we’re sending our CD to foreign
mags & webzines for reviewing.
In the meantime, we’re in the process of looking for a new
drummer to replace Johnny, so we make some auditions.

It's
been a while
since we last updated our site.Lots of stuff have happened, so
here we go: first of all
http://www.despise.gr
is the band's new and official web site.
The last DESPISE 4-track Promo CD, including 4 songs from the 'Indefinite
Force' LP, was sent only to International major Labels in the scene and after
a longtime we received some feedback. They liked the songs, but instead of
releasing our full length CD they asked us to send them any further material
in the future. So, we decided to send the promo to magazines and radio
stations for reviewing and later to release it as a demo for sale. At the
moment we are working on the Promo's layout, while continuing to work on the
production of the rest of the LP's songs.
While waiting for the label's answers, we started writing new material.
So far we have finished rough mixes of 3 of the 4 songs that are going to be
in our next demo CD that is going to be released in the near future.
In the new material, there are some new elements, like new sounds,
samples, acoustic guitars & synths, which take the DESPISE
classic
style into a journey to a more
enhanced
thrash atmosphere, as far as the sound is concerned, presenting much
work in the sections of polyphony & orchestration. Even so, after the rough
recording of the LP, at the stage of the completion of the pre-production
(1996), many sounds & samples were used while in the studio and so, with this
way of composing we continued using them widely in the new material. Slowly
they became
an inseparable part of our compositions, which is more evident
in our new songs.
More specifically about the atmosphere of the new material, it's well
combined with the old DESPISE heavy & technical style and melancholic vibe,
which is now often mixed with more melodic vocals, more expressive riffing,
giving a more emotional touch to the band and simultaneously a new thrash
dimension.
Because of the complexity of the new songs, as far as the polyphony is
concerned and in order to perform LIVE what we've composed & recorded in the
studio, a month ago we asked for some help with synths & sampling from our
friend DIMITRIS PLAGIANNIS
http://www.dimitrisplagiannis.com
who's a well-experienced and cool
guy, that has helped our band a lot in the past. We're very satisfied with his
work and the result till now, as the atmosphere we wanted is at last achieved.
To the above DESPISE sound & atmosphere also contributed the coming of
our new second guitarist CHRISTOFER TERZOUDIS http://www.terzoudis.com
who joined the band 2 months ago, just before
DIMITRIS
PLAGIANNIS. Within these 2 months, Christofer has already learned 8 songs,
something which seemed to be nearly impossible till now, for a Greek guitarist
in our music style. He's really studied a lot and we think that he worths it
to be a DESPISE member. As for us, we were always looking for a second
guitarist to fatten up our sound, but all the auditions disapointed us till
now.
So, with the coming of our new members and after the last rehearsals, we
believe that the new DESPISE sound is complete and so we'll have the chance to
hear our songs LIVE exactly as we've composed them, which has always been
foremost in mind.
So at the moment we rehearse a lot while working on our songs (old & new
ones). The band with its new members is getting tighter and so far everything
sounds great and we're very happy with our new members. Thank you guys!
Composing of new material is progressing as well, so
far MAKIS & MARIA are still behind the band’s song writing and
for the time being we're going to post some samples from 'Indefinite Force' s
Promo CD. We hope you'll enjoy our updated site.
